Senator Suleyman Kerimov has purchased the Dagestani football club
Anzhi, the press-service of the head of Dagestan said, RIA Novosti
reports.
The Dagestani leader, Magomedsalam Magomedov, met with the member of
the Russian Federal Council Suleyman Kerimov in Moscow. Magomed-Sultan
Magomedov, Speaker of the republic’s parliament and president of Anzhi
club, was at the meeting.
Anzhi reached the final of the Russian Cup in the 2000/2001 season,
when it lost to Moscow ‘Lokomotiv’. Anzhi took part in the UEFA Cup in
2001-2002. Last season, Anzhi played in the Russian Premier League,
earning 33 points in 30 games.
