Khasavyurt hosts free-wrestling championship of North Caucasus

Khasavyurt has opened the junior championship for free-wrestling of the North Caucasian Federal District for players born in 1991-1993. 210 athletes of 8 different weight categories will take part, RIA Dagestan reports.
The competition started at 10.00 with wrestling in 4 weight categories – up to 50, 60, 74 and 96 kg. Judge Gamzat Abasov and Chief Secretary Abshin Abshinov said that the winners of gold and silver medals will receive promotions. The top five athletes will take part in the Russian competition in 2011.
Deputy Minister of Physical Education and Sports of Dagestan Saygid Gajiyev, deputy chairman of Khasavyurt City Council Mukhazhir Salakhbekov, deputy heads of the city administration Tagir Gajiyev and Ismail Dadayev and an official of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Degi Bagayev, were at the opening of the championship yesterday at 17.30.

Dagestani athletes won 3 of 4 rounds. Duren Kurugliyev from Dagestan won gold, Zalimkhan Minkailov from Chechnya won solver. Dagestan won a total of 3 gold, silver and bronze medals. Chechnya won 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Stavropol won 1 gold, North Ossetia-Alania and Kabardino-Balkaria won one bronze each.


Weight categories of up to 55, 66, 84 and 120 will take part in the second stage of the competition at 10.00.
