Russian free-wrestling coach praises team at European Championship

Russian free-wrestlers have fulfilled the team’s goal by winning four gold medals at the European Championship in Germany, coach of the Russian national team Hajmurat Magomedov told R-Sport.


Jamal Otarsultanov (up to 55 kg) and Anzor Urishev (84) took gold. Adam Satirov (66) won a bronze medal.


The team’s main coach Dzambolat Yedeyev expected 3-4 gold medals. Four gold medals were earned. Azerbaijan, the main competitor of the Russian team, won two gold and three bronze medals.


Magomedov said that Bakhtiyar Ahmedov (up to 120 kg) did not earn any achievements and needs to make conclusions. He had an injury earlier. He is improving and managed to win the games of Ivan Yarygin.


Commenting on Anzor Urishev’s victory the coach said that some mistakes were made. Yet, he did well earning 1:3.


Magomedov also pointed out mistakes of Adam Batirov, who lost to a Hungarian wrestler Leonid Bazan.

Concerning Bakhtiyar Ahmedov, the coach said that Ahmedov was expected to become one of the top 3 prize winners. Ahmedov was thought to have improved after the World Cup in Makhachkala on March 19-20.
