Approximately 70% of construction work in Sochi has been completed for the Olympic Games in 2014, Russian Vice-Premier Dmitry Kozak said at a meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on April 19, RIA Novosti reports.
40% of facilities have been completed, excluding preparation works. Preparation works include projecting and selection of land plots.
The vice-premier underlined that construction is going according to schedule. The program on construction of Olympic facilities and development of Sochi as a national and international mountain resort, the plan for medical support of the Olympic Games, a complex security plan, anti-doping measures and a plan for a barrier-free space are the key issues.
Kozak said that special events will be organized to mark 1000 days remaining before the start of he games. This includes events throughout the country. The events will be held based on 26 volunteer centers in 14 regions.
