Sochi will host 74 international contests in 2012 as a test for the
Olympic Games in 2014, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a
meeting with the president of the International Olympic Committee,
Jacques Rogge.
12 sports facilities are under active construction. 464 facilities
still need to be built, 127 have been built, 214 will be built in
2011.
A gas pipeline was launched under the Black Sea capable of
transporting 3.8 billion cubic meters. The gas pipeline running over
the mountains increases the capacity from 1.2 billion to 1.8 billion
cubic meters.
Six IOC commissions visited Sochi in May 2011. All their
recommendations, especially ecological ones, were taken into account.
