The Turkish Sports Minister, Suat Kilic, said that the city of
Istanbul plans to file a bid for the 32nd Olympic games in 2020, RIA
Novosti reports.
The bid committee, headed by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will
make its final decision no sooner than July 29. The prime minister
says that Turkey is able to cover all the expenses of the project.
Rome, Madrid and Tokyo have also filed bids for the 2020 Olympic
Games. The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee
will select the hosting state for the games in Buenos Aires on
September 7, 2013. Bids may be filed until September 2011.
