Lithuanian national team to play in Grozny despite PM's warning

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has expressed surprise over the plans of the country’s football federation (LFF) to play a friendly game on the territory of Russia’s Chechnya, RT reports.

The announcement that the Lithuanian national team will face Russia’s second national team at the Akhmad Arena in the Chechen capital, Grozny, was made on Thursday.

In his interview with BNS news agency, Lithuanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mindaugas Lasas announced that “Chechnya is on the list of countries not recommended for visiting.”  

Despite this Lasas' consern, the national team will hold a the match.
