Azerbaijan appreciates the performance of its national team at the London Olympic Games, the country's Minister of Sports Azad Ragimov says, Interfax Azerbaijan reports.
Azerbaijan's Olympic team was represented by 53 athletes in 16 sports at the London Olympics.
Azerbaijani athletes won 10 medals including 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze.
Togrul Askerov and Sharif Sharifov became the Olympic champions among free-style wrestlers; a bronze medal was won by Khetag Gazyumov.
Rovshan Bayramov won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling, Emin Mammadov - bronze.
Azerbaijani female wrestlers also returned home with medals. Mariya Stadnik won a silver medal, Julia Ratkevich - bronze.
Boxers Teymur Mammadov and Magomedrasul Majidov won bronze medals at the Olympics.
Weightlifter Valentin Hristov also won a bronze medal.
