General Assembly of European Olympic Committees to open in Sochi

The 40th General Assembly of European Olympic Committees (EOC) will open in Sochi today.

National Olympic committees from 49 European states will arrive for the event, Interfax reports.

The program includes a presentation of the report made by President of the EOC Patrick Hickey, a speech of President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge and report of organization committees of Olympic Games in London (2012), Sochi (2014), Rio de Janeiro (2016), Ponchange(2018), First Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck (2012).

Attendants of the general assembly will also view the list of candidates to host the European Youth Olympic Festival 2017, awards for sports achievements, the Laurel Award and awards for best European athletes of Peter Nurovski.

A press conference is planned with attendance of President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, IOC President Jacques Rogge and EOC President Patrick Hickey.
