Sochi hosts meeting of 2014 Winter Olympics broadcasters

Over 100 officials from world TV companies with licenses for broadcasting the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi have arrived in Krasnaya Polyana for their first meeting, RIA Novosti reports.

Traditionally, broadcasters hold two meeting for before the games start, organized by the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS). Representatives from SKY ITALIA, ATV (Austria), ORF (Austria), ARD/ZDF (Germany), FT2/FT3 (France), NBC Olympics (USA), Japanese Consortium and other companies will attend the meeting. The talks will be opened by Russian Vice Premier Dmitry Kozak and OBS head Manolo Romero.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi-2014 Organization Committee, said that the meeting is an excellent opportunity for dialogue. The sides will use benefits of Sochi Olympic facilities for implementation of advanced technologies. Briefing will allow organizers of the games to learn about interests of world TV broadcasters two years ahead of the games’ start.

The next meeting will be held in Sochi in early 2013. Over 300 officials are expected.
