Azerbaijan and Qatar have not entered the short list of candidates to host the Olympic Games of 2020. Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo entered the list, RIA Novosti reports.
Quebec concluded the first day of the executive commission of the International Olympic Committee. Bids to host the games were received until September 1, 2011. Istanbul was bidding for the fifth time, Madrid for third, Baku, Doha and Tokyo for second. Tokyo is the only state that hosted the games before, in 1964.
Remaining candidates will present their Candidature Files by January. Final voting will be held in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on September 7, 2013.
