The man selling tickets at the Excel Trade Center where Olympic matches are being held is not an Azerbaijani official, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation of athletes in London, Ilham Madatov, said, 1news.az reports.
Madatov said that he buys tickets for $195 and hands them to Azerbaijani officials. He has spent 2000 pounds on the tickets.
Sky News reported that some man calling himself an Azerbaijani ministerial official was selling “free tickets”, tickets to boxing matches for August 3. Madatov says that the man’s face is unclear on the video and he could be a tourist from Baku.
Each tourist may carry up to 5-6 tickets. Azerbaijani athletes are performing in a maximum of 5 types of sports. The tourism package allows only 1 game to be watched per day. No one would sell tickets for August 3 for 20 pounds.
Madatov criticized LOCOG, organizer of the London Olympic Games. Tickets were ordered a year ago, but the request was fulfilled only 25-30%.
