Dagestan honours Olympic athletes

Dagestan is honouring its medalists at the 30th Summer Olympic Games in London. 27 Dagestani athletes took part in the games. They represented Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. They won four gold medals and five bronze medals, RIA Dagestan reports.

Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov organized reception at the Moskva Complex for Culture and Recreation in Kaspiysk. He will award judo wrestlers Mansur Isayev and Tagir Khaybulayev, free wrestlers Jamal Otarsultanov, Sharip Sharipov and Bilyal Makhov, boxer Magomedrasul Mejidov, Russian pole jumper Yelena Isinbayeva, twice Olympic champion who won a bronze medal.

Judo coaches Habib and Jabrail Magomedovs, free wrestling coaches Anvar Gajiyev, Magomed Guseynov, Khankalav Gajimagomedov, Iman-Murza Aliyev, boxing coach Zuber Jafarov, taekwondo coaches Magomed Abdullayev and Magomed-Tagir Magomedov will received awards from acting Prime Minister Nizami Kaziyev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently awarded Olympic athletes. Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Ivanov awarded athletes at the Malakhitovy Hall of the Big Kremlin Palace.

Over 30 athletes received I-rank Orders of Merit of the Homeland for winning silver medals. Over 30 winners of bronze medals received the same order of II-rank.

Winners of the Olympic Games received 129 Audis with personal drivers, Interfax reports.

Russia won 24 gold, 26 silver and 32 bronze medals at the Olympic Games in London. Russia won 72 medals, including 23 golden, at the games in Beijing. Russia expected 25 gold medals.
