The Russian Paralympic team today left for the capital of the UK in order to fight for medals in the Paralympic Games.
"The guys are in good fighting mood. The government, represented by the Ministry of Sports, has provided them with all the necessary tools and equipment. Our Paralympians are equated to Olympians, according to all the preferences. We will perform in 12 sporting events out of 20. There will be 503 sets of medals to be won," the chairman of the executive committee of the Paralympic Committee of Russia, Pavel Rozhkov, said before boarding, Atmosfera reports.
The Paralympic Games will be held in the British capital from August 29 to September 9. Russian athletes will perform in athletics, swimming, table tennis, powerlifting, shooting, archery, rowing, judo, cycling, 7-a-side football, sitting volleyball and fencing. A total of 163 athletes from 49 constituent parts of Russia will take part in the competitions.
