Russia's Anzhi FC and Azerbaijan's Neftchi FC, who made
their way to this stage of the Europa League for the first time, have learned who their next rivals will be.
The Makhachkala side ended up in a group with the English team Liverpool FC, Italy's
Udinese FC and the Swiss side Young Boys FC. Most probably Anzhi will have to
fight the Swiss team for third place.
The Baku team has been even less fortunate. The opponents in their
group are Milan's Internationale FC, the two-time champion of Russia
Rubin FC (Kazan), led by Kurban Berdyev, and the Belgrade team Partizan. Neftchi, that already created a sensation last year by
knocking out the Cypriot team APOEL, will
fight for the honor of Azerbaijani football without a chance of
continuing the fight for the trophy.
