Russian football fans to be civilized by law

Last Saturday's incident at Khimki stadium intensified discussion

of the new law on football fans.

Commenting on the stopped game between Zenit St.Petersburg and

Dynamo Moscow, the president of the Russian Olympic Committee, vice-speaker of

the Duma Alexandr Zhukov, remarked that football fans should be put into

a civilized framework.

"We discuss the necessity of a law on fans that would somehow

regulate their behaviour, because similar regulation exists in some

European countries and, perhaps, this is the right way," Zhukov

thinks.

He added that the main aim of the new law would be the correct

behaviour of the fans.
