Professional volleyball coach Julio Velasco has signed a contract to steer national Iranian men’s team for another two years, Press TV reports.
The sixty-year-old Argentine arrived in Iran on Wednesday for talks with officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF).
He finalized an agreement with Mohammad Reza Davarzani, President of the IRIVF on Thursday.
Iranians won their first ever Asian Volleyball Championship in 2011 under Velasco, and qualified for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup 2011.
Iran’s victory in the 16th edition of the Asian Men’s Championship was a great improvement from its silver medal finish in 2009.
