Hundreds of police officers were patrolling the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem during the football match between Beitar FC and Maccabi FC from Umm el-Fahem. The Police Chief of the Jerusalem District, General Joseph Perriyanti, was monitoring the process personally.

Some racist posters were confiscated from Beitar FC fans.

Beitar FC director-general Itzik Kornfein feared that fans from Umm el-Fahem could attempt provocations and use the football match for their own political purposes.

No incidents happened during the match. Beitar FC won 5:0.

The team’s authorities said that two players of Grozny Terek FC (Chechnya) were granted visas to visit Israel.

Israeli President Shimon Peres said that intolerance of foreign fans brings shame on Beitar FC and Israel.
