Russia, Iran, US want wrestling to be included in Olympic Games

Wrestling federations of Russia, Iran and the US had a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York and urged the world to keep wrestling in the program of the Olympic Games, hoping that the International Olympic Committee will change its mind about excluding the sports from the upcoming games, ITAR-TASS reports.

Nenad Lalovic (Serbia), acting President of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles, said that countries have a common view that wrestling should remain part of the program.

US Wrestling Federation Executive Director Rich Bender said that wrestling performances at the Central Train Station will be an opportunity to show readiness for changes. US and Iranian wrestlers will take part. Iran will send the first wrestlers to the US in the last 10 years. Russia will be represented by three-time champion of Europe Opan Sat, US by Olympic champion of 2012 Jordan Burroughs.
