Last Sunday the intrigue surrounding wrestling's future as an Olympic kind of sport eventually came to an end.
Representatives of world nations gathered in Buenos Aires voted in favor of keeping wrestling in the Olympic programme.
Vestnik Kavkaza discussed the struggle against the International Olympic Committee's initiative to withdraw wrestling from the list of Olympic kind of sports with Olympic Champion Alexey Karelin.
"I believe it was the large-scale international campaign launched by Russia that caused this success," he said.
"It was a rare example of successful cooperation between such countries as Russia, Iran and the United States, who all voiced support for the idea of keeping wrestling among the Olympic sports," the sportsman told Vestnik Kavkaza.
