Russia and Iran are leaders of world championship in wrestling

The World Wrestling Championships finished in Budapest yesterday. The Russian team came second, losing to Iran in the number of gold medals.

Russian athletes won 11 medals in total - three gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

In freestyle, Russian wrestlers won 2 gold medals: in weight group up to 60 kg Bekkhan Goygereevu took gold, and in the category of up to 120 kg the gold metal went to Khadzhimurat Gatsalov. Nariman Israpilov (55 kg), Magomed Kurbanaliev (66 kg) and Anzor Boltukaev (up to 96 kg) won bronze medals. 

The tournament debutant Nikita Melniko won gold in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight group of up to 96 kg.

Silver medals were won by Ivan Kulyakov (60 kg), Islambek Album (under 66 kg), and Roman Vlasov (74 kg). The Russian women's team won two more medals. In the weight category up to 55 kg bronze went to Valeriya Koblova, and in the category up to 72 kg silver medal was won by Natalia Vorobyova.

The first place in cumulative standing went to the Iranian national team, which won 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
