An awards ceremony with the participation of athletes and sports figures took place today in Baku, the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan reports.
The awards ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov and the president of NOC, Genghis Huseynzadeh.
Aganagi Jafarov and Yadigar Mammadov were recognized as the best coaches of the year. The Boxing Federation of Azerbaijan was recognized as the best federation. The best team of the year became the Azerbaijani chess team. The Kurdemir Olympic sports complex was recognized as the best sports complex.
The best Azerbaijani athletes of 2013 are: world boxing champion Mahammadrasul Mejidov, world champion in judo Elkhan Mammadov, world boxing champion Javid Chelyabinsk, bronze medalist in judo Orhan Safarov, silver medalist in freestyle wrestling Hetag Gazyumov, silver medalist of the European Boxing Championship and of the World Championship Teymur Mammadov, bronze medalist in weightlifting Firudin Guliyev and others.
