Sochi is practically ready to host the Winter Olympics but there are some ongoing technical problems and delays in completing accommodation, Russia’s Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said Monday, RIA Novosti reports.
With just six weeks until the opening ceremony on February 7, Russia is on the final stretch of six-and-a-half years since being selected to host its first Winter Olympics.
“Overall, the level of preparation is very high,” RIA Novosti quotes Mutko as saying. “Regarding the sports facilities, they’re all ready. There are issues over the tweaking of some technological decisions, but overall, everything’s ready.”
He added: “There are questions to the builders about finishing a number of facilities, but that’s related to accommodation facilities. All the infrastructure is ready.”
