Vladikavkaz (North Ossetia) will become the 131st city to host the Olympic Torch Relay today, RIA Novosti reports.
About 20,000 people are expected to watch lighting of the Olympic Flame.
The air temperature in North Ossetia is -14 degrees C, 10 degrees below the average January temperature of the region.
Soslan Andiyev, twice Olympic free wrestling champion, will make a speech. 31 torch bearers, including four Olympic champions, will pass 3.2km. A concert will be organized to conclude the event. The torch will then move to Kabardino-Balkaria.
