The Sochi Olympic Games will popularize winter sports in Russia, said Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, ITAR-TASS reports.
Sochi was chosen as the host of the Games in 2007. The number of people engaged in winter sports increased 1.5-fold. About 200,000 more people started skiing, according to the minister. He predicts that many children will join sports schools.
