The opening ceremony of the 22nd Winter Olympic games started at 20:14pm in Sochi today. The ceremony is being held in the Fisht Stadium. 3500 athletes from 88 countries of the world took part in the Olympic parade.
The ceremony is attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Addressing the attendees of the event, the Russian president said that he hoped the games will bring energy to the viewers and leave a lasting impression. "We hope the games( ...) will make people from all over the world proud of their countries and urge them to go in for sports themselves," Putin said.
