The press-service of the Georgian president has made clarifications due to mistakes in an interview with Mikhail Saakashvili to the ‘Echo of Moscow’ radio station on August 26th, the text of which can be found on the station's site. According to the press-service, there were discrepancies in the interview, Georgia Online reports. In particular, the published text of the interview was as follows:
“It must be understood that Russians are historically imperialists, the whole nation. But the Russian government, which was a good invader, but a bad guardian.”
The exact quotation is of the president was: “It must be understood that Russians are historically imperialists, I don’t mean the Russians, as a whole, as a nation. But the Russian government, which viewed itself as an empire, was always a good grabber but a very bad holder.”
The press-service of the radio station said that the “technical mistakes” have been fixed.
