Russian interior minister promotes Olympic athletes

Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has promoted members of the staff that won prizes at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, ITAR-TASS reports.

He noted that his staff had won over half of all medals of the Russian national team. The ministry’s athletes have taken part in 700 highest-ranking games and won medals, including 67 Olympic medals.

53 members of the Interior Ministry took part in the Sochi Olympics, 8 of them were officials of the ministry and 45 soldiers of the Internal Forces. Captain Alexander Legkov, an instructor at the Central Regional Command of the Internal Forces, Private Vladimir Grigoryev, a shooter of the Ural Regional Command, Warrant Office Semen Yelistratov, a senior instructor for physical fitness at the Privolzhsky Regional Command, and Private Alexey Volkov,  shooter of the Ural Regional Command, became Olympic Champions.
