An electronic system to detect goals will be used at the World Championships in Brazil for the first time.
Installation of the necessary equipment has been held at all 12 stadiums hosting world championship games.
Along the perimeter of the pitch and the stadium 14 cameras will be placed, seven in the goal areas. In case the ball crosses the goal line the information is relayed to the watch of the referee and his three assistants, reports Sports.ru, citing the New York Times.
The system that will be used for determining goals at the upcoming FIFA World Cup has already been tested at the Confederations Cup.
