Chechen climbers to ascend highest peaks

 

The Chechen Alpinism Federation and the Russian Geographic Society are starting realization of the Vertikal 25 000 international project under supervision of Ramzan Bakanayev, the president of the Alpinism, Tourism and Mountain Sports Federation of Chechnya.An international group of 8 climbers will ascend the peaks of Ararat (Turkey), Damavand (Iran), Tebulosmta (Chechnya), Kazbek (North Ossetia), Mont Blanc (France). The project will help Chechen climbers to prepare for climbing Mt. Everest.Chechen lawmaker Magomed Alkhazurov, Assistant Minister for Education Khamzat Umkhayev, Head of the Russian Geographic Society Office in Chechnya Rashid Arsayev are part of the team.Jamlay Bugayev, deputy head of the Vertikal 25 000 project, said that the initiative will encourage business contacts and cooperation with foreign rescue organizations.
