Chechen alpinists Ramzan Bakanayev, Jamlayla Bugayev, Khamzat Umkhayev, Shamil Umkhayev and Turpal Munashev have reached the peak of Mt. Kazbek to mark the birthday of first Chechen President Hero of Russia Akhmat-Haji Kadurov within the framework of the Vertikal 25000 project.The climbers plan to reach the peaks of Ararat (Turkey), Demavend (Iran), Mont Blanc (France), Kazbek and Tebulosmt (both in the Caucasus). The total distance they will climb will exceed 25,000 meters.The project was organized by the Russian Geographic Society and the Chechen Alpinism Federation to popularize alpinism and encourage young people to engage in sports.
