Kazakhstan to compete for right to host 2022 Winter Olympic Games

Almaty is bidding for the Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games for the second time.

"The ideological basis of the Almaty-2022 plan is the ‘Keeping it Real’ concept," the organizing committee reports.

"Almost 60% of the required facilities have already been constructed and this can be a model for the future concepts for the Games. Almost 80 percent of the infrastructure for the forthcoming Games will be ready by 2017 for holding the Winter Universiade in Almaty," the message said.

The International Olympic Committee’s Evaluation Commission, led by president of the Russian Olympic Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, will visit Almaty today, Trend reports.
