First ‘Caucasian Games’ to be held in Karachay-Cherkessia

Aul Khabez in Karachay-Cherkessia will hold the first 'Caucasus Games'
on October 9, supported by the Russian presidential envoy to the North
Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) Alexander Khloponin, the department
for interior policy affairs of Khloponin told Vestnik Kavkaza.

The games are part of the cultural program of the Winter Olympic Games
in Sochi in 2014. Participants of all NCFD regions will take part in
'The Caucasus Games', the program includes 14 kinds of sports. Each
sport is associated with the culture of the Caucasus peoples.

Next year, the games plan to double the number of sports, with teams
from the South Federal District, North Caucasus and Transcaucasus
invited. There will be 210 participants and up to 2 000 spectators.
Sports celebrities, Olympic champions, world champions and European
champions will be invited, including Aslanbek Khushtov, Andrey
Chemerkin, Vasiliy Skakun, Alina Kabayeva.

The games will open on October 9, 2010 at 10.00 at the 'Adiyug-Palace'
hotel complex.
