UEFA does not rule out the possibility of a boycott of the 2018 World Cup, the vice-president of the organization Grigory Surkis said.
"It’s probably the easiest thing to say I favor a boycott. Especially when you can see that there are thousands of civilians who are affected by the situation, where many people have been killed," Gazeta.ru cited him.
"Let’s wait, let’s not be pessimistic. I am optimistic, because this is not only an issue of peace for Ukraine. It’s about peace for the whole of Europe and for the whole world," Surkis stressed.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian state, Petro Poroshenko, called for a boycott of the World Cup in Russia, but German Chancellor Angela Merkel is not considering such a scenario.
