Presentation of the Baku 2015 First European Games took place in the Dorchester Hotel of London.
Held with joint organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Organizing Committee of the First European Games, assisted by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in London, the ceremony was attended by state and government officials from both the countries, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Britain, deputies, representatives of London’s general public, and Azerbaijanis living in this country.
The Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, Azad Rahimov, spoke about the preparations for these Games in Azerbaijan. Talking about the ceremony of lighting the first flame of the European Games, the minister underscored that supporting and developing sports was among the national priorities of Azerbaijan.
The president of the European Olympic Committee, Patrick Hickey, the head of Britain’s Olympic Association, Lord Sebastian Coe, and the General Operations Director of Baku-2015, Simon Clegg, also delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Within the framework of the event, various video films associated with the First European Games were shown.
