The European Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Minsk has come to an end. In the team competition the Russian team came first with six out of the seven gold medals. The Azerbaijani national team also performed well. Mariana Vasileva, head coach of Azerbaijan, gave an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza.
When we asked her how she assesses the results of the European Championships in Minsk for Azerbaijan, Mariana Vasileva noted that the competition was difficult and very stressful.
"I’ve been the head coach for seven years and I still I cannot understand or explain why coaches don’t want to give a chance to those athletes who work honestly and creatively. I think that our team is working honestly, creatively and with dignity. We have never wanted to win when we make mistakes. But sometimes I feel that our team is infringed and that we perform much better than others,’’ the head coach of the Azerbaijani gymnasts said.
In the interview Mariana Vasileva made special mention of her gymnasts: Marina Durunda and Ayshan Bayramova, a newcomer to the European Championship.
''They coped with the stress and performed very well!’’ Mariana Vasileva said.
