Summer in Moscow will begin with a holiday of sport and national unity – on June 6, the 3rd Spartakiad of the Peoples of the Moscow will start with the support of the Department of inter-regional cooperation, national policy and relations with religious organizations of Moscow. Vestnik Kavkaza is one of the media sponsors of the event.
The competition, symbolizing the friendship of nations in the field of sport, will be held at the Yantar Stadium. The participants will compete for the championships in mini-football, volleyball, athletics, Russian wrestling, wrestling, wrestling of Siberia and the Caucasus, arm wrestling, mass-wrestling, table tennis, chess and backgammon.
The press service of the Spartakiad told Vestnik Kavkaza that the qualifying stage for the main event is currently coming to an end. "In the entertainment part we will hold a concert with the participation of national assemblies. It will be possible to come with a family, there will be a children's playground," the press service of the event noted, adding that the exact number of participating athletes and cultural associations will be determined by the end of May.
A member of the presidium of the Council for Affairs of Nationalities of the Moscow government, the head of the Union of Student Communities, Kantemir Khurtayev, told Vestnik Kavkaza that with proper organization the Spartakiad "becomes a holiday with the participation of the representatives of different nationalities living in Moscow."
He called for all-round coverage of the event. "It is necessary to promote the Spartakiad to have a really powerful resonance. Unfortunately, the Spartakiad is not popular enough, we need to work on this, because this event helps convergence among the youth of Moscow," he stressed.
