Today the third European Wrestling Championship day passed in the Sport-Concert complex named after Aliyev, where women will start competing.
According to azerispport, Nadia Sementsova will represent Azerbaijan in the weight category below 67 kg. She beat Ashley Mackmamus from Britain in the first round. Her next competitor will be Sandra Mackela from Sweden. Sementsova had a great result in the first period, winning 4:0.
After a break she earned six more points. In the semi-final she competed with Irina Cirkevich from Belarus. Irina won the first point, however, Nadya won at the end, scoring 4:2. Yet Cirkevich won the second period. Nadya scored 3 points in the third period, entering the final.
In the final Sementsova beat Caterina Burmistrova, scoring 1:0, 2:1. Aliona Cartashova (Russia) and Irina Cirkevich (Belarus) won bronze medals.
Sona Akhmedli, a silver world championship prize winner, participated in the weight category below 59 kg, she was one of the favorites in this weight category. Her first opponent was Gudrun Khoye from Scandinavia. She beat Gudrum in advance, entering the next round. In the semi-final she wrestled with Fattakh Sellum from France, winning 1:0 in the first period and six points after the break.
In the final she competed with Taybe Mustafa Yusent from Bulgaria. The first period was hard for Sona, yet she won 3:0. However, she became the Champion of Europe in the second period, scoring 4:0.
