The Russian National Football Team will play a friendly match with the
Iranian team on February 9, 2011, RIA Novosti reports, citing the
President of the Russian Football Union, Sergey Fursenko.
It will be the first game of 2011 for the Russian team, supervised by
Dick Advocaat, and will help prepare for the qualification games for
the European Championship 2012. On March 26 they will have their first
qualifier in Armenia.
Fursenko said that they have a cooperation agreement with the Iranian
Football Federation, signed in June 2010 at the FIFA congress in
Johannesburg (South Africa). One of the points of the agreement allows
for friendly matches between the two national teams.
The game will be held in Dubai (UAE).
