Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and the Emir of Qatar have had a
telephone conversation and agreed to unite efforts in organizing the
world football championships in 2018 and 2022, RIA Novosti reports,
citing the press-secretary of Medvedev, Natalya Timakova.
Medvedev made the call from Krasnaya Polyana, where Russia and Italy
are holding inter-state consultations.
The two leaders talked about development of trade and economic cooperation.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi joined the conversation,
congratulating Russia and Qatar on the achievement. Berlusconi said
that Italy is ready to support the projects and share its experience.
He noted that he speaks not just as prime minister, but also as the
owner of the football club ‘Milan’.
