Yerevan's Punic will not participate in Commonwealth Cup

The Armenian football champion Punik will not take part in the
Commonwealth Cup, which starts in Saint Petersburg in January 2011,
RIA Novosti reports, citing the executive director of the club, Karen
Arutyunyan.


The competition will be held from January 15 to 23 at the
Peterburgskiy sports complex and Zenit sports center. The Russian
Football Union had announced the list of the championship
participants, including Punik.


Arutyunyan said that the Armenian national team and Punik need to
prepare for the coming season.


Georgia's Olimpi, thw Moldavian Sherif and the Belarusian teams BATE
and Minsk have also refused to participate in the Commonwealth Cup
