Sport leaders of North Caucasus make appeal to citizens

Participants of a meeting of the heads of sport departments, coaches
and athletes of the North Caucasian Federal District have made an
appeal to the citizens of Russia, socio-political, religious, youth
and sports movement, media and law-enforcement authorities.

The appeal expresses their deep concern at attempts to destabilize the
socio-political and ethnic balance in the country made by some
extremist and nationalist organizations. They also expressed sympathy
for the victims of the recent events and called on the law-enforcement
authorities to conduct an objective investigation into the committed
crimes as soon as possible.
