The Iranian girls’ soccer team has been kicked out of the Youth Olympics as FIFA rules bar players from wearing Islamic headscarves
FIFA regulations say a team’s strip should not indicate any political, religious or personal convictions.
"Taking into consideration the clear position stated by the [Olympic committee] of Iran, the FIFA Executive Committee had no choice but to
take the decision that Iran will not be able to participate," Jerome Valcke, the FIFA secretary general, said.
The inaugural Youth Olympic Games will be held from August 14 to 26 in Singapore.
