Adzharia may see up to 800-900 thousand tourists, Georgian President
Mikhail Saakashvili announced in Batumi.
“I know we have a lot more to do, although the region will develop
five times faster than Turkey”, RIA Novosti reports him saying.
Saakashvili said that they will complete the project on regional
development, making it capable of hosting over 2 million tourists
annually.
Adzharia had 500 thousand visitors in 2009, 86% more than the
analogous figure in 2008, notes Business Georgia.
According to the head of the department on resorts and tourism, Temur
Diasamidze, a developed gambling industry is an extra attraction for
tourists to Adzharia.
