The Russian government will issue 330 billion rubles for tourism
development in the regions, head of the Russian Federal Tourism Agency
Alexander Radkov said, RIA Novosti reports.
Radkov is taking part in the first international tourism forum in
Komi, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the republic. Over 130
experts from the USA, European states and the CIS arrived. Russian
regions are presenting their investment projects in tourism.
The Federal Tourism Agency is selecting projects it would support in
the future. The agency stresses the co-financing of projects from
business and economic processing of documentation.
Radkov noted that Russia pays special attention to southern
territories. The South of Russia purpose program was approved,
allowing regions to receive grants for development of infrastructure
and construction of tourism facilities.
Regions are developing new tourism routes, building roads, hotels and
infrastructures. Projects of tourism products are being actively
presented.
Tourism solves the employment problem for about 12% of the population.
It provides income and helps the development of national culture and
art.
Tourism in some states reaches 7% of GDP. The indicator is 2.5% in Russia.
