Remake of Soviet-era film to promote tourism in Caucasus

Within the programme of promotion of the North Caucasus resorts the Russian authorities plan to remake a well-known comedy by Leonid Gaidai "Kidnapping, Caucasus Style," Izvestia reports.

The initiator of a new film is a company The North Caucasus Resorts, which plans building of mountain skiing resorts in the region: in Dagestan, Karachai-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygeya and North Ossetia. Names of actors are kept secret.

The aim of the movie is to show that the Caucasus is a place where you can have a safe holiday and to banish the negative image of the region.
