Pyatigorsk halts land privatization

The public prosecution service of Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Territory) has
halted land privatization that has been ongoing for 6 months, RIA
Novosti
cites deputy prosecutor of the city Valery Kosykh.

He said that privatization violates the law on protected natural
territories. The administration of Pyatigorsk filed letters to the
plenipotenriary presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal
District and the governor of Stavropol Territory with requests for
adjustments to the law.

Kosykh noted that this will require changes in the federal legislature.

Bids of over 17,000 citizens and legal bodies for privatization have
been viewed in the last 6 years. Over 10,800 orders were made and over
250 criminal cases initiated.
