Development of a master plan for the Mamison ski resort in North Ossetia will be completed by the end of December 2011, ITAR-TASS reports.
Basic engineering of territories will be concluded in May 2012. The project is financed by the federal purpose program South of Russia (2008-2013), the state corporation Resorts of the North Caucasus says.
Mamison is expected to have 30,000 tourists daily in 2020. It will cover 570 square km, with a total length of skiing routes of 196 km. It will have 50 elevators and 25,000 hotel rooms.
The Resorts of the North Caucasus plans to build 5 new ski resorts in the North Caucasus: Lagonaki (Krasnodar Territory and Adygea), Arkhyz (Karachay-Cherkessia), Elbrus Bezengi (Kabardino-Balkaria), Mamison (North Ossetia - Alania) and Matlas (Dagestan). There will be 898 km of skiing routes, 179 elevators, hotels with 89,000 rooms, a daily capacity of 150,000 visitors daily. The project would create over 330,000 workplaces.
