Astrakhan is hosting the first international conference for tourism development in the Prikaspiysk Region on December 16-17, 2011, the Russian Federal Tourism Agency says.
The conference will have a plenary session, theme discussions and partner sections for development of international and trans-border cooperation in tourism, improvement of quality and services, preservation of historical-cultural sites and promotion of regional tourism products in Russia and abroad.
The conference will include a council of regional executive authorities on realization of the federal purpose program for development of inner tourism in Russia for 2011-2018.
Astrakhan and the Federal Tourism Agency will sign an agreement for development of tourism and tourism infrastructure in the region. The document will be signed by Governor of the Astrakhan Region Alexander Zhilkin and head of the Federal Tourism Agency Alexander Radkov.
About 150 officials from federal and regional executive authorities and local autonomies, tourism companies and related education centers, business and media will attend. Delegates will arrive from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Greece, Turkey and other states. A regional representative of the UN World Tourism Organization will take part.
