Last week international mountaineering teams began meeting at the
highest peak in Europe, Mount Elbrus. The gatherings are dedicated to
the memory of Maria Khitrikova, who tragically died on this route a
year ago. At the age of 21, she was considered a rising star of
Ukrainian high-altitude mountaineering, the press service of the
Azerbaijani Mountaineering Federation reports.
Teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine will participate in
joint training for two weeks.
The Azerbaijani team will be presented by Dmitry Shiyan (instructor of
the "Mountain Athletic Club") and Rufat Gojayev (head and instructor
of the "Gartal" mountaineering club).
